Case Study
Brand Development: Revolutionary Spaces
ABC was hired by Plural (Boston) to develop the brand identity for Revolutionary Spaces, an ambitious 21st century institution on the Freedom Trail. This new organization is a merger of two different, existing and well-established organizations, The Boston Society and Old South Meeting House Association. Revolutionary Spaces is bold and forward-thinking—they foster a free and open exchange of ideas, explore history, create gathering spaces, and preserve and steward historic buildings. The brand needed to be: modern, credible, bold, and inclusive.
In partnership with Plural, ABC developed the complete brand identity, look and feel of print collateral, signage, apparel, as well as the Brand Guidelines. The primary logo has elements of a portal/doorway/entry which supports their tagline, ‘Open History. Enter Democracy’, as well as exchange of dialogue. Their printed collateral use dynamic, unexpected, and engaging photography to draw the viewer in and show a more inclusive presentation of history than is typical. The client was looking for a bold solution to stand apart from the expected which made it an exciting project to work on.
